Changshu Museum: A Historical Art Museum
Changshu Museum is a historical art museum that integrates collection, research, exhibition, and education. It houses over 11,000 pieces of cultural relics spanning from the Songze and Liangzhu cultures, dating back more than 5,000 years, to the New Democratic Revolution period. The museum’s collection is primarily divided into three categories: calligraphy and painting, ceramics, and jade.
In recent years, the museum’s collections have been featured in various cultural relic atlases published in China. These include “Complete Works of Fine Arts,” “Liangzhu Jade Ware,” “Paintings Collection of the Four Wangs,” “Calligraphy and Painting Collection of Wu Changshuo,” “Catalogue of Chinese Astronomical Cultural Relics,” “Catalogue of Cultural Relics on the Road of the Initial Spread of Buddhism to the South,” and “Six Dynasties Art.”
Special albums showcasing the museum’s fine collections of calligraphy, painting, and seals have also been published. These include “Paintings Collection of Changshu Museum,” “Calligraphy Collection of Changshu Museum,” and “Seals Collection of Changshu Museum,” launched by Shanghai People’s Fine Arts Publishing House, Cultural Relics Publishing House, and People’s Fine Arts Publishing House.
Visiting Hours
Changshu Museum is open from Tuesday to Friday and Sunday, 09:00 to 16:30 throughout the year. The museum is closed all day on Mondays. On public holidays such as New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Tomb-Sweeping Day, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day, the museum is open from 09:00 to 16:30.Service facilities:
