The Alangyi Ancient Trail, also known as the Alangyi Ancient Path, is a section of the Langqiao Beinan Road (now from Hengchun, Pingtung County to Beinan, Taitung County) in the Qing Dynasty. It is one of the existing ancient trails in the local area. It is located at the end of Provincial Highway 26. It is 11.86 kilometers long from north to south. It is adjacent to the Pacific Ocean on the east. The adjacent area preserves some of the only remaining coastal virgin forests in the local area. The Alangyi Ancient Trail is adjacent to mountains and seas. The mountains and seas are magnificent. It is the so-called ‘ends of the earth’. Because there is no road to reach it, it is rarely visited. Environmental protection groups point out that this ancient trail is a local pure land, a habitat for coconut crabs, and a spawning ground for green turtles. They firmly oppose opening roads and building nuclear waste sites.

Opening hours: Open all day throughout the year.

Must-see tips: Due to natural protection reasons, the Alangyi Ancient Trail only allows no more than 300 tourists to enter every day. Reservations are required and a professional tour guide will lead the way. No cooking fires are allowed in the ancient trail, no camping is allowed, and no animals or plants can be taken away. Violating these regulations can result in a maximum fine of 150,000 New Taiwan dollars!
