The Ancient Bell Garden is located by the Weixing River in the southwest corner of Huinan Town. It was built in 1982 and covers an area of more than 38,700 square meters. The huge bronze bell cast in the fifth year of Longqing in the Ming Dynasty (1571) is located in the central scenic area of the Ancient Bell Garden. The bell mouth has a diameter of 1.1 meters, a height of 1.62 meters, a circumference of 2.
8 meters around the bell body, and weighs 1.6 tons. The ancient bell is a treasure of Nanhui and is now listed as a key protected cultural relic at the municipal level in Shanghai. The park is named after this bell. The amusement facilities in the children’s playground are relatively inexpensive. The paths in the garden are winding and secluded. The pavement is laid with stone slabs and pebbles. The layout structure of pavilions, kiosks, pavilions, bridges, roads, ditches and canals, and the architectural design of upturned eaves and the overall layout of greenery highlight the characteristics of ‘gray tiles and white walls, bronze and ginkgo’. It is simple and elegant, quiet and secluded, reproducing the ancient Ming Dynasty garden style and lifestyle. It is a classical garden imitating Ming architecture. The whole garden is divided into four scenic areas: Bell Pavilion, Wenyuan Pavilion, Cangzhuo Garden and Baobao Village. There are nine pavilions and seven bridges such as Panlong Island, Qifeng Terrace, Sun Pond, Moon Lake, Mirror Pavilion, Zhenyi Pond, Guanchao Pavilion, Tingyu Pavilion, Juxiu Hall and Zhenqu Pavilion, and eleven curved bridges in the river, as well as ancient buildings such as one boat and three corridors.
