The Anping Tree House was originally the office and warehouse of the British firm Tait & Co. in the late 19th century. As the warehouse was abandoned, the lush old banyan trees around began to encroach. The original structure of the house was gradually torn by tree roots, and the tree trunks gradually became the main trunks of brick walls. After half a century, they were completely integrated, creating the unique landscape of ‘trees within walls and walls within trees’ today.
At the end of 2004, the tree house began to be renovated and a wooden plank road was planned. Tourists can enter the interior of the tree house through the plank road. Entering the house, there is a patch of banyan aerial roots hanging down from the sky. Light penetrates the building through the trees, and the light and shadow are mottled and blurred, full of charm. The Anping Tree House is now covered with green banyan leaves. It feels extremely cool to visit here in summer. The ‘NINAO Gelato’ ice cream opened in the Anping Tree House tastes good. After visiting the Anping Tree House, you can also take a heritage tour to the adjacent Tait & Co.Opening hours: Open all year round from 8:30 to 17:30.
