The Poplar Waterfall is located in Xiulin Township, Hualien County, Taiwan. It is a famous waterfall landscape in Taroko National Scenic Area. The Poplar Waterfall is a double-layered waterfall. The total drop is about 200 meters. The upper waterfall has a smaller drop of only about 30 meters. There is a waterfall pool below the waterfall. The gap of the waterfall pool is followed by the second-layer waterfall with a drop of 170 meters.
The Taroko National Park Headquarters has built the Poplar Trail. You can go to the viewing platform at the confluence of Sanzhan Creek and Liyu Creek to overlook the waterfall landscape. Because the viewing platform is still some distance from the waterfall and the viewing angle is limited by the terrain, the upper waterfall cannot be seen on the viewing platform. The lower waterfall is also obscured by the mountain shape, and only about two-thirds of the waterfall body can be seen. It is impossible to see the whole picture of the waterfall.Opening hours: Open all day all year round.
