Banana Bay Ecological Reserve, situated about one kilometer towards Eluanbi from the Ship’s Sail Stone, was once a thriving coastal forest stretching ten kilometers from Eluanbi to Kenting. Unfortunately, human activities such as cultivation and jute planting led to the degradation of the forest landscape. The area began to recover in 1982 when it was designated as an ecological reserve.
The reserve is divided into four distinct plant zones: the coastal coral reef plant zone, the sandy grassland plant zone, the coastal shrub plant zone, and the coastal forest plant zone. Visitors to Banana Bay can enjoy the breathtaking view where the sea and sky meet, appreciate the rich forest landscape, and marvel at the diversity of ecosystems. The reserve is open all year round, operating 24/7, with specific opening hours posted at the site for public reference.
