Carprin Lake Scenic Recreation Area is located in Shoufeng Township, Hualien County. It is a barrier lake formed by the confluence of the tributaries of the Papaw River and the Hualien River. The lake has a vast surface.
Carprin Lake reaches a depth of 15 meters, and its water is clear all year round. The water source gushes from the heart of the lake, which is a fascinating aspect of Carprin Lake. The lake surface is elliptical, longer from north to south and narrower from east to west, with an area that fluctuates with the seasonal changes in water volume. In addition, Carprin Lake is named after the nearby mountains that resemble a carp, hence the name Carprin for both the mountain and the lake.
The area is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
