In the early days, Qijin was called ‘Qihou’, referring to the tribe located behind Qishan Mountain. In the late Qing Dynasty, due to its favorable geographical location, Qijin became a trading port. After the official opening of the Qihou area, all industries were prosperous and it was extremely lively. It is an area with early development in Kaohsiung. The Kaohsiung City has invested more than 50 billion yuan to build the Qijin Coastal Park on the peninsula. Here, there are throngs of tourists and it has become a good place for sightseeing and relaxation. The Qijin Coastal Park can be divided into four areas: a seawater bathing beach, a seaside viewing trail, an off-road area, and a natural area. In addition, there is a seaside viewing platform supported by 15 pillars, extending from the shore to the sea. Standing on the platform, you can personally experience the huge force generated by the impact of waves. There are many bicycle rental points in the park, and there are also dedicated bicycle lanes. You might as well choose to ride a bicycle and stroll around the park. On the park’s trails, there are many patterns of various marine creatures pasted with colored floor tiles, making you closer to the ocean. Along the 1-kilometer-long trail, there are specially built gazebos for tourists to rest and viewing platforms for overlooking the sea view. When you are tired from walking, sitting or standing here, looking at the sea and listening to the waves is very pleasant.
