Feng Guozhang, courtesy name Huafu, was born in 1857 in Hejian, Hebei Province. The Feng family had many properties in Tianjin, two of which were his residences. The more famous ones are located at No. 50-54 Minzhu Road and Huayuan Lane on Haihe East Road in Hebei District. In 1913, Feng purchased three buildings from Austrian engineer Brüner, covering an area of 6.376 mu. In 1915, he commissioned a German architect to carry out expansion and connection construction according to the original architectural style and built a garden-style garden, known as “Feng Family Garden” or “Feng Family Courtyard”.
There are 110 buildings and 54 bungalows, with a construction area of 4,661 square meters. Another one is at the corner of Hebei Fourth Road and Yuwei Road (now No. 6 Yuwei Road, Hebei District), with a total of 24 buildings and 47 bungalows, and a construction area of 1,425 square meters. The main building in the courtyard is a two-story western-style small villa with unique shape and strong integrity. Opening hours: open all day throughout the year.
