The Longhu Pagoda is located by the Lianchi Pond in Zuoying District, Kaohsiung City. It was built in 1976 and is named after the carvings of dragons and tigers on its body. The Longhu Pagoda takes the dragon’s throat as the entrance and the tiger’s mouth as the exit, implying turning danger into safety by ‘entering through the dragon’s throat and exiting through the tiger’s mouth’. The architecture of the Longhu Pagoda shows the style of the Tang and Song dynasties.
It is a seven-story pavilion-style building with a brick and stone structure and a height of about more than 30 meters. Each side of the tower body is engraved with flame-like patterns. The exterior shape is vivid and bright, and the interior reliefs are unique. Inside the dragon tower, there are illustrations of China’s twenty-four filial sons.Opening hours: Open all year round from 8:00 to 18:00.
