Flame Mountain is located at the junction of Sanyi Township and Yuanli Town. It is the highest point of the hills in Miaoli area. Due to its loose soil and gravelly geological structure, the mountain appears in red, orange, and brown hues, resembling burning flames from a distance, hence the name Flame Mountain.
The geological conditions are unsuitable for agricultural cultivation. As a result, Flame Mountain has preserved many native Masson pine forests and Rhododendron fortunei. Every year, during the azalea blooming season, thousands of bright flowers embellish the entire mountain, creating a breathtaking sight.
Although Flame Mountain is only 600 meters above sea level, climbing to the top offers a panoramic view of the Taiwan Strait and the pastoral scenery, which is quite a spectacle.
