The Garden Night Market is located at the intersection of Beisi Road and Hai’an Road in the North District of Tainan City. It is a large area with a high volume of people, sometimes so crowded that it can be described as ‘impossible to move an inch’. Its popularity is on par with Taipei’s Shilin Night Market. During the day, the Garden Night Market is a vast open space, but on Thursday and Saturday nights, it transforms into a well-known tourist night market in Tainan. With a massive free parking lot of over 6,000 square meters, it attracts many visitors.
The Garden Night Market is divided into four main areas: gourmet snacks, fashionable clothing, fine department stores, and entertainment. Famous delicacies include A Mei Guava, Spring Roll Ice Cream, Tong Da Charcoal Grilled Chicken Steak, Chen’s Hong Kong Fish Balls, Si Cao Oyster Omelette, and Jie Qi Fish Black Wheel, among others. A must-try is Chen’s Spicy Duck Blood and Fish Balls, with the duck blood being spicy enough and the fish balls being chewy. Small bowls cost 50 New Taiwan dollars, and large bowls cost 70 New Taiwan dollars. Additionally, Taiwan’s stinky tofu smells fragrant and tastes even better, with a crispy exterior and tender interior, perfectly complemented by a bit of pickled vegetables.

Moreover, there are some well-known shops such as Tong Da Chicken Steak, Second Brother’s Traditional Braised Flavors, and Big Stall Braised Flavors. A meal for one can be around 50 Chinese yuan. Like most night markets, there are many vendors selling small goods at affordable prices with room for bargaining. Walking around the market not only satisfies your taste buds but also allows you to experience the local lifestyle.

The market is open all year round on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 17:00 to 00:00; it is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Please note that the specific business hours are subject to the day’s opening status.

Must-see tips: 1. Be mindful of your backpack while enjoying the market to prevent pickpockets. 2. Do not litter with plastic cups and boxes after eating; keep the night market environment clean.
