The entire ancient trail spans approximately thirty kilometers from Jinshan Huanggang Fishing Village to Shilin, Taipei. A century ago, fishermen from Jinbaoli (an old name for Jinshan) used this trail to carry fish products over mountains and ridges to sell in Shilin, and then return to Jinbaoli by crossing the ridges. Today, the Jinbaoli Ancient Trail has been planned as one of the twelve major trails within Yangmingshan National Park. Along the way, the boundless verdant grasslands and the shaded forests make it a great place for hiking and outings. The trail is open all year round from 00:00 to 23:59.
