Lvdao Township is located in Taitung County, where Tsai Chin’s song ‘Green Island Serenade’ is set. Here, you can admire the sapphire-like sea, interact with the innocent and lovely sika deer, dive into the splendid underwater world, or rent a scooter to tour this secluded paradise. It is an ideal place for family and friends to relax and vacation.
The main attractions of Lvdao are scattered along a 16.3-kilometer concrete circular island road. You can start from Nanliao Bay near the pier, take a circular island sightseeing bus to travel around the island, and the bus stops at 13 stations, including the Human Rights Memorial Park, Guanyin Cave, and Sleeping Beauty, allowing tourists to get off and visit.

For in-depth travel, consider renting a vehicle. In Taiwan, renting a scooter requires a scooter driver’s license, and without a license, it is best to choose an electric bicycle, as cycling can be physically demanding. In the evening, you can ask the guesthouse owner to take you to see the sika deer, which are light and heat-sensitive and only come out at night.

In the early morning, enjoying the sunrise at Chaori Hot Spring is a unique experience here. Lying in the open-air hot spring, accompanied by the waves and sea breeze, you can welcome the first ray of dawn, which is truly delightful. After watching the sunrise, you can go back to the guesthouse for a nap before going snorkeling. Lvdao is a popular diving destination in Taiwan, with diving shops providing complete snorkeling equipment, life jackets, and experienced instructors. Those who cannot dive can take a sightseeing glass-bottom boat at the fishing port to enjoy the beauty of Lvdao’s underwater world.

The opening hours are all year round, open all day, with specific business status subject to the day’s opening conditions.

Essential Tips: 1. There is only one ATM at the post office on the entire island for cash withdrawal, and there are very few places that accept card payments. It is recommended to withdraw enough cash in advance in cities like Taitung, Kaohsiung, and Taipei before boarding the island. 2. The boat ride to the island takes about 1 hour, and the boat can be quite rough, so remember to take motion sickness medicine if you are prone to seasickness, or opt for a flight if your budget allows.

3. Renting a scooter in Taiwan requires a scooter driver’s license, and driving without a license can result in a fine of 6000 New Taiwan Dollars. 4. Due to geographical factors, the island experiences strong sunlight in summer and strong northeast monsoon in winter. Remember to apply sunscreen when visiting in summer and pay attention to wind protection in winter. 5. If you plan to soak in the ‘Sunrise Soup’ at Chaori Hot Spring, it is advisable to book a guesthouse nearby for convenience.
