Guwu National Forest Recreation Area is located at the border between Wufeng Township in Hsinchu County and Tai’an Township in Miaoli County, with an elevation of approximately 2000 meters. It is named for its perennial mist and is the starting point and a must-pass place for viewing Dabashan. The Hsinchu Forest District Office has planned this area as a national forest recreation area, with multiple forest trails leading to ancient cypress trees over 2000 years old, giant forests, waterfalls, and other scenic spots.

Visitors can enjoy the sunrise and the natural scenery changing with the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The forest also hosts many alpine birds, making it an excellent place for birdwatching. The pervasive scent of phytoncide fills every breath, offering a sense of transcendence and a feeling as if one has stumbled upon a fairyland.

The Guwu Forest Recreation Area features five trails: waterfalls, giant trees, beech forests, birdwatching, and honeymoon trails. The area is open all year round from 8:00 to 17:00.
