Guzhen Temple in Kaohsiung was established in 1980, originally known as ‘Dagong Buddhist Institute’. Starting from the fifteenth day of the lunar month, a joint practice session is held every Saturday. Despite the limited space and overcrowding, the practitioners are dedicated and have achieved remarkable results. The temple’s founding predates to the 1960s, but the master never took a single donation from his followers. The construction was delayed until February 1987 when the conditions became ripe, and the construction funds were voluntarily donated by the practitioners, without any hasty solicitation. The Great Compassion Hall was completed in 1990. The temple is open all year round from 8:30 to 17:00.
