Hu Mountain, located in the Xinyi District of Taipei City, is collectively known as the Four Beasts Mountains along with nearby Elephant, Leopard, and Lion Mountains. It is named for its shape, which resembles a crouching tiger ready to pounce.
Hu Mountain is a popular destination for Taipei citizens to relax on holidays, where the Taipei 101 can often be seen at various turns. The trail features multiple platforms to admire the Taipei 101 and overlook the Taipei Basin, including the 120-meter high pavilion, Fuxing Garden, and Shi Fang Zen Temple, making it an excellent spot for watching the 101 New Year’s Eve fireworks and a sought-after location for photography enthusiasts to capture the essence of Taipei 101.
In addition to its broad views, Hu Mountain boasts a rich ecosystem. The Hu Mountain Stream flows through, nurturing a valley-type ecological environment that supports a variety of ferns and is also a prime location for the breeding of fireflies, frogs, and dragonflies, combining the characteristics of suburban hiking and ecological observation.
