This arch was built to commemorate Huang’s acts of chastity and filial piety. Huang was born in the 25th year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1880) and passed away in the 19th year of Guangxu (1893), living to the age of 74. At the age of six, she married the Confucian scholar Wang Jialin. At the age of twenty-eight, she became a widow and served her parents-in-law with utmost filial piety.
