The Jiji Branch Line is a captivating small train line that has been operating since the early 1920s. Each town along this line is ancient yet distinctive, making it the Jiji Line.

Spanning 29.7 kilometers, the Jiji Branch Line extends from Ershui Township in Changhua County to Checheng Village in Nantou County, making it the longest of Taiwan’s three existing branch train lines. Here, you can spend a day traveling by train, starting your journey from Ershui, purchasing a one-day pass, and sitting in the uniquely decorated train carriages. You can enjoy the scenery along the way, stopping and boarding as you please – the epitome of flexibility.

As a highlight of the Jiji Line, you must explore Jiji, either by strolling around or renting a bicycle to ride through the town at a leisurely pace. The cycling paths along the river offer stunning views. Checheng, as the terminus of the Jiji Branch Line, should not be missed. Walk down the old streets to feel the former prosperity of this timber town, and visit the reservoir on the mountain to witness the lake and mountain scenery that rivals the train line itself.

The line is open all day.
