This place was once the Laidong Salt Field during the Qing Dynasty, which was submerged by floods and later relocated near Waigudou in Tainan’s Jiali. By the 23rd year of the Jiaqing era (1818 AD), it was again ravaged by water disasters. It was relocated here in 1818 and has not moved since, making it the first salt field of Beimen Salt Field and one of the oldest salt fields in Taiwan with a history of over 180 years. Later, the Jingzai Jiao Salt Field displayed a beautiful mosaic-like art. To continue the spirit of its salt industry culture, the Yunlin-Chiayi Coastal National Scenic Area Administration has restored the salt field, allowing the unique salt drying landscape of ‘Jingzai Jiao’ to remain on the coast of Yonghuali in Beimen. It has now become a very distinctive sightseeing salt field within the Yunlin-Chiayi Coastal National Scenic Area. Visitors can experience the traditional fun of salt drying, carrying, and collecting salt here, making it a suitable in-depth attraction for family visits. The opening hours are from 9:00 to 18:30 all year round.
