Jingzi Pavilion in Minong Village

Jingzi Pavilion, also known as Shengji Pavilion, Jing Sheng Pavilion, and Zi Zhi Pavilion, embodies the traditional concept of ‘respecting and valuing words and literature,’ deeply influenced by Confucian thought. The Hakka people hold a great deal of respect for written characters, leading to the establishment of incense burners in villages specifically for the burning of golden paper. The Jingzi Pavilion in Minong Village is a hollow, hexagonal, three-story brick tower, constructed with swallow-tailed bricks and adorned with petal-like cut and paste decorations. The pavilion’s top features delicate engravings of the Ruyi pattern, presenting an elegant and rustic appearance.
