Jishan Tower was established in 1898. The ancestor of the Lai family, Changrong Gong, moved from Touzhang to Erfenpu today and built a two-courtyard house. The original gatehouse of the three-courtyard house was built with adobe and was not very conspicuous. In 1924, according to the suggestion of a Tangshan geomancer, Chongren Gong built a new gatehouse to the south of the old gatehouse. It is said that the family business can be prosperous from then on. The new gatehouse is named Jishan Tower, which means to encourage future generations to do good deeds and help others.
