Lalu Island, formerly known as Guanghua Island, is located in the center of Sun Moon Lake Reservoir. It was the early residence of the Thao people and is also a landmark of Sun Moon Lake. The name Lalu Island means ‘sacred island in the heart’ in the Thao language. Lalu Island is the ancestral spiritual land of the Thao people. Out of respect for the Thao people, tourists are currently not allowed to land on the island. Tourists can only enjoy facilities displaying Thao culture and historical development on the floating bridge plank road around the island’s waters. Open all year round and open all day. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
