The Lu Youren Chinese Herbal Medicine Museum, the first privately-run museum approved to open to the public in Zhejiang Province, stands as the only privately-funded Chinese herbal medicine museum in the country. This museum is a treasure trove of Chinese medicine, boasting a diverse collection of specimens, quaint and exquisite medicinal grinding stones and knives, as well as a rich array of ancient medical texts and scriptures. A visit here is akin to stepping into a condensed 5000-year history of Chinese medicine.

The museum is owned by Lu Youren, a folk Chinese medicine practitioner affectionately known by locals as the ‘Medicine Enthusiast’. His personal collection is impressive, comprising over 1000 pieces of ancient pharmaceutical tools, more than 20,000 volumes of ancient Chinese medical books, and over 2000 types of animal and plant Chinese medicine specimens that he has crafted himself.

The museum’s doors are open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday, with operating hours from 09:00 to 16:00. It remains closed all day on Mondays throughout the year, from January 1st to December 31st.
