During her newlywed days, her husband departed to take an examination in pursuit of fame and success. Before leaving, he planted a starfruit tree in the courtyard, telling Yin Niang, “Seeing the tree is like seeing me; I will return once the examination is over.” Unfortunately, he never returned, leaving Yin Niang to wait by the window, gazing at the tree daily, longing for his return. Her love and longing turned into an illness, and she eventually passed away from sorrow.
