Huangdie Valley is located in Guanglin Village, Meinong District. If you plan to visit Meinong’s Zhongli He Memorial Hall, Shuangxi Mother Forest, and Chaoyuan Zen Temple, you will undoubtedly come across this scenic spot. On the right side of the road near Chaoyuan Zen Temple, there is a pillar and a parking lot, marking the entrance to Huangdie Valley.
Huangdie Valley is part of the upper reaches of the Gaopingxi River and was once one of Taiwan’s important bird habitats. The environment within the valley provides ample food and growth space for the larvae of Huangdie butterflies, as well as meeting the needs of adult butterflies at every stage of their life cycle. Consequently, every year, a large number of pale yellow butterflies appear among the valley. The best season to observe pale yellow butterflies is from May to July each year, with the period around the Dragon Boat Festival being particularly spectacular. If you miss this butterfly-watching season, do not be disappointed, as the valley also boasts a rich stream and bird ecology. The endangered red-billed leiothrix and rare pitta often appear here. The abundant ecological resources of Huangdie Valley will ensure that you are filled with wonder at every turn. The valley is open all year round and is accessible 24 hours a day, with specific operational status subject to daily opening conditions.MeiNong Huangdie Valley
