The Mengjia Qingshuiyan is commonly known as the Patriarch Temple. The Patriarch of Qingshui is the patron saint of people from Anxi. In the early days, most of the fields around the Taipei Basin were developed by immigrants from Anxi. During the Sino-French War in the late Qing Dynasty, Taipei was in an emergency. According to folk legends, it was because the Patriarch of Qingshui was invited to help that Taipei was safe, so the incense became even more prosperous. Mengjia Qingshuiyan was once used as a school. Later, State-run Second Middle School was established here, which is the predecessor of today’s Chenggong High School and also has great significance in educational history.
