The Nanhua Mazu Temple in Tainan mainly worships the Heavenly Holy Mother. It was established in the 37th year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. It is said that the Heavenly Holy Mother was worshipped by the ancestor of villager Li Xianfu after he migrated to Taiwan. The ancestral temple is located in Meizhou, Putian County, Fujian Province. Due to its extensive divine power and frequent miracles, the number of believers has been increasing. Therefore, a proposal was made to build a temple. At first, it was only a temple made of adobe. In 1997, under the initiative of then chairman Chen Chunlin, it was rebuilt and expanded on the original site. It took eight years and was completed and inaugurated in 2005.
