Native Botanical Garden

The Native Botanical Garden is located beside Chongguang Road, Zuoying District, Kaohsiung City. It is between Xinzhuangzi Road at Aozaiti to the east and Zengzi Road to the west, covering an area of 4.66 hectares. It is a green park themed on native plants. At present, there are more than 60 kinds of native plants from 45 families in Taiwan in the park. The entire park is like a living museum of Taiwanese plants.

In addition to having local characteristics, it also has educational and recreational functions. When you step into the park, you begin to enter a complete and vivid story of life growth. The plants in the garden are designed in a landscape style, and the ecological and recreational functions are very cleverly combined. The entrance square presents educational content in an artistic form. The high and low rapids in the stream area are like a natural reproduction.

Fancy fountains, curved bridges, and beaches provide citizens with an interesting park landscape. Each plant in the park has an explanatory sign indicating the name, characteristics, and special uses of the tree species, improving citizens’ cognitive level and the quality of greening. There are mangrove areas, aquatic plant areas, low-altitude plant areas in southern Taiwan, coral reef areas, coastal forest areas, etc.

in the park. There is also a plant literature trail comparable to Kyoto’s ‘Philosopher’s Path’. It is an excellent botanical garden with rich biodiversity. Tourists can fully enjoy the exquisite recreational space of an urban botanical garden here. Open all year round and all day.
