Shanshui, historically known as ‘Sow Falls into Water’, has an intriguing origin. One theory suggests that a sow was dragged into the sea by a giant octopus on the beach, hence the name ‘Sow Falls into Water’. Later, it was renamed ‘Sow Water’. From the Guanyin Mountain on the eastern side of the Shanshui fishing port to the Sow Water Mountain on the west, the area is collectively referred to as Sow Water Bay. The shoreline boasts pristine white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, making it a paradise for tourists to frolic in the waves. It is open all year round and accessible 24/7.
