The Qianjiang New City Light Show is a new urban calling card for Hangzhou since the 2016 G20 Summit in Hangzhou, China. The light show is located in the Qianjiang New City, the CBD of Hangzhou. It consists of 700,000 LED lights installed on the exteriors of 30 high-rise buildings along the core area of Qianjiang New City. The light show employs modern visual effects such as sound, light, and electricity, complemented by large-scale music, natural landscapes, cultural elements, architecture, and Hangzhou’s logo. Text, lighting, and images are displayed on a ‘giant screen’ formed by more than 30 high-rise buildings along the Qiantang River, presenting a series of paintings with ‘Chinese style and Jiangnan charm’. Regular broadcasts began on October 18, 2016. Shows are held every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday at 18:30 and 19:30. As summer approaches and the days get longer, the performance and landscape lighting times in Hangzhou’s urban area will also change. Starting from April 15th, the lighting times will be adjusted. From April 15, 2018, the schedule has been changed to two shows every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday at 19:30 and 20:30. On Fridays and Saturdays, there are two shows each night at 18:30 and 19:30. From Sunday to Thursday, there is one show each night at 19:30. In case of important events requiring temporary adjustments, the broadcast times will be based on the day’s arrangements.
