The Qijin Lighthouse is located on the top of Qijin Mountain and is also known as the Kaohsiung Lighthouse. It was built in the 9th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1883). It is one of the few remaining lighthouses of the Qing Dynasty in Taiwan. The lighthouse is octagonal and pure white. It shines charmingly under the blue sky. The square white wall building connected to the lighthouse is the lighthouse office. There is an observation deck at the top of the lighthouse, from which you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Qijin Port, Chaishan Mountain, Xiziwan and the grand occasion of ships entering and leaving Kaohsiung’s harbor city.
