The Chi Mei Museum’s collection primarily focuses on Western art, musical instruments, weaponry, animal specimens, and fossils, with approximately four thousand pieces on display, constituting about one-third of the total collection. The founder, Mr. Hsu Wen-Lung, stated: ‘Fine cultural relics should not only be appreciated by oneself but also shared with more people; the collection should not be limited to one’s personal taste but should appeal to a broader audience.’ The museum’s permanent exhibition halls include:
【Art Hall】Paintings from the 13th to the 20th century, building a concept of the development of Western art for the public.

【Animal Hall】A collection of animal specimens and fossils from the five continents, structuring the course of life evolution and natural ecology.


【Musical Instruments Hall】Featuring ‘World Ethnic Musical Instruments’, ‘Into the Orchestra’, and ‘Mechanical Musicians’ sections, showcasing the development of musical instruments with cultural customs and technological progress. The ‘Violin Exhibition Area’ systematically collects and displays classic works based on global luthiers’ inheritance and geographical regions.

【Armament Hall】Exhibiting ancient weapons from around the world, presenting the evolution of craftsmanship and technology through different types of weaponry.


The museum is open all year round: Monday-Tuesday, Thursday-Sunday 09:30-17:30; closed all day on Wednesdays, and closed on Wednesdays and New Year’s Eve.
