The Qinglong Mountain Range and the island symbolizing the Dragon Pearl, Lulu Island, are steeped in numerous legends. The Qinglong Mountain Trail begins at the Xuan Guang Temple pier and ends at the Ci’en Pagoda, gently ascending along the ridgeline, offering beautiful and picturesque scenery.
The square in front of Xuan Guang Temple offers an excellent view, with Lulu Island, Hanbi Peninsula, and Shueishe Settlement all in sight; the Qinglong Mountain Trail is also collectively known as one of the ‘Four Beauties of Sun Moon Lake’ along with Shueishe Mountain Trail, Houjian Mountain Trail, and Maolan Mountain Trail. Along the trail, there are moss sculptures designed to take advantage of the high temperature and humidity of Sun Moon Lake, such as the mountain gate, a young monk, sutras, and the Heart Sutra planting dish. A statue of Master Xuanzang fetching scriptures is located at the Xuan Guang Temple square, commemorating his arduous journey to the west to obtain scriptures. The trail is open all day, but may be closed due to typhoons, other natural disasters, or trail maintenance work as needed.Qinglong Mountain Trail
