Ruigong Irrigation Ditch Tributary Ruins

Taipei was originally a barrier lake, formed by ancient volcanic eruptions. As the water receded, the area gradually transformed into a wetland. The Han ancestors then moved in and constructed canals for reclamation, which led to the formation of fertile fields over time. During the Qianlong period, Guo Xiliu from Zhangzhou built an irrigation ditch to supply water for the farmers to irrigate their farmland. This ditch was later named “Ruigong Irrigation Ditch” by successive generations.
