The Shanzhu Gully Ecological Trail is located on the west side of Liuchiu Island and is connected to the Bird Ghost Cave. It is composed of high shore coral reefs that emerged above sea level due to early western orogenic movements. The coral reefs are densely covered with coral fossils and seaside plants. Among them, the Ficus superba var. japonica of the Moraceae family is relatively spectacular. The aerial roots hanging down from the rock wall are like the paintings of the earth. Some plank roads specially use natural ecological construction methods and concentrate fallen leaves on the trail. Along the way, coral caves are densely distributed and biological fossils can be seen everywhere. The scenery is beautiful and often there is the surprise of finding a hidden paradise. There is also a natural and spectacular coral reef air-raid shelter, which is said to be a cave for local residents to take refuge. Open all year round and open all day.
