Shou Shan Temple is located within Shou Shan Park in Kaohsiung City. It serves as the Kaohsiung branch of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order. Since its establishment, the temple has been actively engaged in various Buddhist propagation activities, including recitation groups, women’s Dharma meetings, and regular scripture lectures. It has made significant contributions to the prosperity of Buddhism in the local area.
In 1982, due to the increasing number of believers and the insufficient temple space, the temple sought a new location on Qi Xian Second Road to build a new temple, named Puxian Temple. The original temple continues to carry out various Buddhist propagation activities as before, with Master Hsing Yun still serving as the abbot.
Before the establishment of Puxian Temple, Shou Shan Temple was the central hub connecting Fo Guang Shan with Kaohsiung, as well as other Buddhist venues and believers in the north and south.
