The streams of Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area are its distinctive features. It is located at the confluence of the two major tributaries of Fenggang Stream, beside the Nanhui Highway, which is how it got its name.
The Shuangliu Waterfall stands at approximately 25 meters high. With an abundant water flow, it cascades down with a thunderous sound, creating a spectacular scene that is truly awe-inspiring. As you walk along the trails from the entrance area to the waterfall area, you are greeted with beautiful scenery. If you grow tired, there are resting seats and rain shelters (resting pavilions) along the way.
Maozi Mountain is the highest point in this area, with an elevation of about 650 meters. It offers a broad view that encompasses the surrounding mountains and a distant view of the Pacific Ocean and the Taiwan Strait. Walking through the serene forest trails, you can breathe in the natural oxygen and cool off in the pavilions on stone chairs, enjoying a moment of coolness and leisure. Along the way, you can also experience the joys of butterfly watching, wading in streams, and playing in the water. In addition, there are historical slate house ruins to visit.
The area is open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00. To prevent forest fires, camping, barbecues, and other cooking activities are strictly prohibited within the area, and visitors are advised to be cautious with fire.
