Against the backdrop of rapid development in digital technology and new media, and the continuous expansion of the boundaries of contemporary art, the ‘Beta+’ exhibition delves into the issues of transience and effectiveness in our pursuit of information and novelty. Influenced by contemporary visual culture, people constantly seek visual stimulation brought by new technologies and crave new experiences; however, these consumptive contents often appear in fragmented forms, prompting us to eagerly anticipate the next batch of novelties, such as the next intriguing article, the next unique scene, or the next generation of brand-new digital products.

Immediacy has become the core principle of our content consumption model, with capturing the latest trends being the main driving force for consumption. Today, the advantage of large corporations lies not only in the accumulation of knowledge and information but also in their ability to quickly and effectively update and integrate new functionalities. This capability allows companies to adapt swiftly to market changes and maintain competitiveness. Although the applications and tools we currently use have been relatively well-tested, they may still be phased out in the near future; in fact, the pace of technological iteration and updating is accelerating.

In this world of constantly renewing media, technology, and materials, artists have begun to rethink various aspects of their work, such as methods of production, exhibition approaches, and forms of expression, to adapt to the rapidly changing society. Consequently, the exhibition attempts to explore how these phenomena of updating, reordering, adding and deleting, communication between developers and users, and evolution are reflected in artistic creation.

The ‘Beta+’ exhibition brings together nine artists/teams from Mongolia, France, Singapore, and Taiwan. They explore dynamic and real-time spatial experiences, correspondingly and vividly presenting their multiple perspectives and challenges regarding contemporary space, environment, and visual culture. Unlike static exhibition presentations, ‘Beta+’ showcases the artists’ ‘immediacy’ in the creative process, allowing the works to be continuously constructed and reorganized within the exhibition space, providing visitors with a unique and transient temporal experience. The exhibition is open from 09/28 to 12/29, with performance times and durations subject to the venue’s schedule.
