The Huadong Coastal Highway belongs to Taiwan Provincial Highway 11. The whole journey is about 175 kilometers and it takes 3 to 4 hours by car. The highway runs through the eastern coastal scenic area and has charming mountain and sea landscapes and tribal humanities. It is a coastal highway that often makes tourists linger. The eastern coastal scenic area has also planted many shady trees around the Baqi Rest Stop, and there is a wide parking lot and clean restrooms. Hot and cold drinks are supplied, along with simple meals, marinated dishes, various beverages and coffee. There are simple wooden tables and chairs where tourists can rest and enjoy meals. There is also a small store. Inside the store are displayed artistic creations, small toys made of driftwood, and various handicrafts. You can buy souvenirs. In addition, well-known scenic spots along the way include: Jixi Seaside Bathing Beach, Shitiping, the estuary of Xiuguluan River, the Tropic of Cancer sign, Baxian Cave, Shiyusan, Sanxiantai, Xiaoyeliou (Fugang Fishing Port), Zhiben, etc. And you can also go to the ‘Jilai Hunter School’, the ‘Jingpu Tribe’ at the estuary of Xiuguluan River, and the ‘hometown of white crabs’, the Nanzhuhu Tribe on the way to experience more human elements in addition to the mountains and seas.
