The Sanmin Bat Cave in Taoyuan is a limestone cave under Maohe Mountain in Jinshanli, Guansi Town, Hsinchu County. The cave is deep and unfathomable with few people. Every time when the sun sets in the west, thousands of bats gather in groups, flying all over the sky and interweaving up and down. It is a spectacular sight against the sunset glow and haze. Thus, it has the reputation of one of the twelve scenic spots in Hsinchu, ‘Bats Flying over Maohe’.

When entering the bat cave, it is recommended to wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants. The cave entrance is narrow and only allows one person to enter sideways. The bats are dormant on the top of the stone cave. The inside of the cave is rugged and narrow, going up and down. From time to time, water drops drip from the top of the cave. After coming out of the cave, it is hard to avoid being in a mess.

It is open all year round and all day.
