The former Tainan Meteorological Observatory, commonly known as the pepper tube, is a meteorological observation building located in Zhongxi District, Tainan City. The building was completed in 1898 and consists of two structures: a circular building and a wide chimney tower. This meteorological observatory is one of the few large-scale buildings constructed in the early days. Not only is it of a long history, but it is also the enlightenment place of modern meteorological observation. In 2003, the building of the former Tainan Meteorological Observatory was designated as a national historic site and opened to the general public for viewing. Meteorological activities are also held on weekdays. Opening hours: Open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:00 all year round.
