Tongxing Pawnshop was established during the mid-Qing Dynasty and was a large-scale pawnshop in Gaoyou Prefecture during the Qing era. It is said that this pawnshop was a private property of Heshen’s family and served as an official pawnshop. The original counter for receiving customers was located on the east side, and there was also a guest room specially for receiving guests, which was very well-equipped. After Heshen fell from power, the pawnshop was transformed into a civilian pawnshop and changed hands several times. Patriotic figure Ma Shijie was the major shareholder at that time. In 1927, the pawnshop was robbed by the fleeing Beiyang warlord Sun Chuanfang’s troops and went bankrupt. It has since been used as residential housing and for small businesses to sustain livelihoods. After liberation, it was allocated to the port’s labor association and town production offices. The surplus was rented out by real estate companies for citizens to live in. Opening hours are 08:15-18:00 from March 20 to December 31, Tuesday to Sunday; and 08:30-17:00 from January 1 to March 19, Tuesday to Sunday. The whole year, Mondays are closed all day.

Full-time undergraduate and below students (excluding adult college students) with valid identification or student cards, enjoy half-price ticket entry; 6.
