Taiwan Traditional Arts Center

The Yilan Traditional Arts Center is a paradise for all art, culture, and literature enthusiasts and a must-visit attraction for tourists in Yilan. The park features three buildings to visit, including the Wenchang Temple, the former residence of Yilan’s first juren Huang Zuanxu, and the Guangxiao Hall, each with its unique characteristics and representing the local artistic culture. The Wenchang Temple, which enshrines the Five Saints of Wenchang, is regarded by the locals as a sanctuary for scholars due to their long-standing protection. In addition, the hall also enshrines deities such as the ancestors of opera and craftsmanship, who play an extremely important role in the inheritance of Yilan’s traditional arts.
Apart from the aforementioned three buildings, there are numerous other attractions within the park. On the Traditional Arts Avenue, a variety of unique handmade stalls will catch your eye, and there are exciting live performances in the square to enjoy. If you feel tired, you can take a cruise at the ferry terminal to appreciate the beautiful scenery and visit the Guangxiao Hall and the former residence of juren Huang Zuanxu, where you can learn about Yilan’s family traditions, birth rituals, and folk culture. Within the park, you can even participate in DIY handicraft courses to experience the making of various handicrafts or join live parades to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck home.
