The Tropic of Cancer Astronomical Plaza encompasses ten major exhibition areas, including the Nine Planets Water Play Area, Constellation Zone, Tropic of Cancer Sun Pavilion, Tropic of Cancer Imagery Marking Line, and the Historical Mark Display Area. The Tropic of Cancer Imagery Marking Line uses the provincial road as a boundary, with tropical and subtropical plants planted on either side, perfectly showcasing the astronomical and geographical symbolism of the Tropic of Cancer. The Nine Planets Water Play Area utilizes scaled-down models of the planets and displays their information, allowing visitors to understand the nine planets, with a popular water pump nearby that is loved by children.
The Ancient Astronomy Area features instruments such as the Sun窥阳管 and the figure-eight sundial, which are ancient astronomical knowledge tools. The public can use the Sun窥阳管 to apply the scientific principle of ‘shadow and竿’ to observe the position of the sun, and the figure-eight sundial to understand the current time through the position of the shadow, offering insights into how ancient people knew the time. The Historical Mark Display Area exhibits the commemorative marks from the first to the fifth generation, echoing the current sixth-generation landmark, the Sun Pavilion, witnessing the historical development of the Tropic of Cancer landmark. The Sun Pavilion: The architectural appearance of the space shuttle is very modern, and the interior of the building is themed around astronomy and constellations for exhibitions. The Tropic of Cancer Sun Pavilion has a total of five floors, with the first floor being the Astronomical Education Center, where the public can learn basic astronomical knowledge. The second and third floors are astronomical classrooms, and the fifth floor is a solar-themed exhibition area, focusing on the sun and providing more information about the universe. It also features an observation deck and a distant viewing area, where visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Tropic of Cancer Astronomical Plaza. The entire venue is open all year round and is accessible 24 hours a day.Tropic of Cancer – Astronomical Plaza
