Wufengqi Scenic Area is renowned for its ‘Wufengqi Waterfall’, a stunning natural wonder. The waterfall is a multi-tiered marvel, with a total length of approximately 100 meters. It is divided into three distinct tiers, each with its own unique characteristics.
The first-tier waterfall, about 20 meters in length, is tucked away behind a veil of trees in a small valley. As you descend, you’ll come across several pools where tourists can enjoy a playful dip. The second-tier, spanning about 30 meters, features spring water cascading directly from the mountainside. Here, a waterfall viewing pavilion sits at the cliff’s corner, offering a panoramic view of the verdant layers below.
The third-tier is the most impressive, stretching about 50 meters. It is a sight to behold as the spring water plunges down with the force of a thousand galloping horses. This tier provides an opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the water, swim in the pools, and revel in the refreshing coolness amidst the heat.
Adjacent to the Wufengqi Scenic Area lies a hidden gem, the source of the Wufengqi Waterfall. A one-hour walk along the path beside the earth temple at the entrance leads to several small ponds with exceptionally sweet water. Mountaineers often carry this water down the mountain to brew tea, earning the area the name ‘Wufeng Valley’.
Above the Wufengqi Scenic Area, you’ll find the Catholic Wufengqi Our Lady Mountain Villa. It is steeped in legend, with tales of it appearing to guide lost mountaineers, making it a sacred pilgrimage site for believers. From here, one can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Lanyang Plain. The villa is also a popular destination for mountaineering, accessible via a two-hour uphill trek.Opening hours: Open all year round and all day.
Tips: It takes about twenty to thirty minutes to walk from the entrance along the trail to the first section of the waterfall.
