Xian Dong Yan is located in Xian Dong Li, Zhongzheng District, in the northwest of Keelung. It is said that immortals practiced Taoism here and ascended to heaven, hence the name Xian Dong. It is a natural sea-eroded cave, with the sea once right beside the cave. Due to the rise in sea level, it is now more than 10 meters away from the sea.
Near Xian Dong, there are peculiar rocks and strange stones standing upright, naturally formed, and the scenery is captivating. As you climb the steps, you can see the three characters ‘Xian Dong Yan’ on the stele. Next to the stone steps in front of the cave stands a majestic Buddha statue, which is grand and splendid, and available for people to worship.
