The Ximen Red House is named after its octagonal building and is also known as the ‘Octagonal Hall’. It is located on Chengdu Road in Wanhua District, Taipei, close to the Ximending Pedestrian Street. At the beginning of its establishment, it was used as a market. As time went by, it was changed into a theater and cinema. Now it has been transformed into a gathering place for culture and art, becoming a famous cultural settlement in Taipei.
On the second floor of the Red House, art activities such as cross talk, opera, stage plays, dances, and concerts are regularly staged. It is also known as the ‘Red House Theater’. You can also stroll around the themed exhibition on the first floor. Here records the history of the Red House. The cultural shops in the building sell some special and exquisite souvenirs. You can consider giving them to friends as gifts! Next to the Ximen Red House is the lively Ximending. There are many delicious and fun places here.
