Chenggong Fishing Port is a large-scale fishing port under the jurisdiction of the Xingang District Fishery Association. In addition to providing berthing facilities for fishing vessels, it also serves as an auction site for fish catches from nearby areas. The main catches include ghost knife fish, yellowfin tuna, umbrella swordfish, and bonito. The fish market auctions fish catches around 3 PM every afternoon. Within the port area, there is a direct-sales fish market for tourists to purchase fresh fish, and a cooked food area where visitors can have their fresh purchases prepared by the restaurant on-site.
Due to the passage of the Kuroshio Current near Chenggong Town, the area is rich in fish, which has led to the thriving development of the fishing industry and made Chenggong Fishing Port one of the largest on the eastern coast. Every October, when the northeast monsoon blows, it is the prime season for swordfish. The unique skill of local fishermen in harpooning swordfish preserves the fresh and springy texture of the fish, which is still favored by Japanese gourmets. Visiting during this season allows one to savor delicious swordfish meals. Recently, Chenggong Fishing Port has also started whale-watching tours in line with the development of marine tourism. There is a scenic coastal park in the town, where after enjoying affordable seafood dishes, visitors can take a walk and gaze at the famous landscapes such as Green Island, Sanxiantai, and the Coastal Mountain Range.
