Yingge Stone is located at the foot of the mountain behind Zhongzheng Road and Chenggong Street in Yingge Town, Taipei County. It is named for its resemblance to a parrot and has long been a landmark and spiritual symbol of Yingge Town.
According to historical accounts, during the transition from the Ming to the Qing Dynasty, Zheng Chenggong led his troops southward along the Danshui River. When they reached the area now known as Sanxia and Yingge, they encountered a giant bird that exhaled fog, causing casualties among the soldiers. The Zheng’s army fired at the bird, hitting its neck, and the bird fell to the ground, transforming into a massive stone lying on the mountainside, which is the Yingge Stone we see today. Today, the area around Yingge Stone has been developed into a park. Visitors can reach Yingge Stone by walking straight to the end of Chenggong Street. A pavilion is built on the side of the stone, providing a place for rest. Inside a cave on the stone, there is a stele that briefly describes the origin of Yingge Stone. Climbing the steps leads to a viewing platform at the top, where one can enjoy a panoramic view of Yingge Street, Dahanxi River Valley, and the scenic beauty of Sanxia and Yuanshan. The park is open all year round, accessible 24/7.Yingge Stone: A Landmark of Yingge Town
